MoCap Demonstration on GameLife/Digitex

Location: Invex/Digitex fair, Brno, Czech Rep., Oct 24, 2007, 10:00 - 11:15 CET, pavilion X

Official homepage » (CZE)

Speech language: CZE, however ENG resume possible on demand

Speakers: Ing. Stepan Kment, lead engineer, MC Bohemia Interactive | Ing. Radim Pech, lead animator, Altar Games

Audience: (Character) animators, production managers of game and post studios

The aim of this presentation is to demonstrate the ease, flexibility, reliability and fidelity of human body CGI animation using motion captured data. Though it may seem surprising, the MC technology is still considered as something too high-end for "normal" small projects such as TV commercials, games etc. - we would like to change this opinion demonstrating how quickly it is possible to transfer real human action onto typical CGI character moves.

There will be given quick overview of typical pipeline starting with MC recording, through MC data processing, ending processing the data in Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5 (including typical tasks for games - looping of walkcycles - and movies - blending multiple takes together, including multiple character actions).

During the demonstration, we will also demo very small portion of our MC setup live on stage, so real data of a move will be recorded and processed (as stage is undersized, we don't expect to record full human body there, though).

Looking forward to see you! Everybody invited.
